While visitors see The Secret Farm at its busiest during the height of the season, a lot of the magic actually happens quietly behind the scenes — months (and sometimes years) in advance.

This week, we’ve been busy planting thousands of tulip bulbs, carefully tucked into the soil and already preparing to burst into colour for spring 2026.

Planning Ahead for a Spectacular Display

Tulips need time, patience, and the right conditions to thrive. By planting now, the bulbs can settle, develop strong roots, and go through the natural winter chill they need to produce healthy, vibrant blooms next year.

Each bulb has been placed with intention — spacing, depth, and layout all planned to create sweeping blocks of colour and picture-perfect rows when they finally emerge.

From Bare Ground to a Sea of Colour

Right now, the field might not look like much more than freshly turned soil — but beneath the surface, the transformation has already begun.

In the coming months, nature will quietly do its work. Then, as spring 2026 arrives, those hidden bulbs will rise to create a stunning display that visitors can walk through, photograph, and enjoy as part of our seasonal experiences.

Why We Love Sharing the Process

We love giving you a glimpse into what goes on at The Secret Farm when the gates aren’t busy and the crowds aren’t here. Planting tulips is one of those hopeful tasks — a reminder that even on cold or muddy days, we’re always working towards something beautiful.

If you’re watching this space already, you’re seeing the very beginning of something that will be in full bloom next year.

Looking Ahead to Spring 2026

We can’t wait to welcome you back to see these tulips in all their glory. Until then, we’ll keep nurturing, planning, and growing — one bulb at a time.
